“Flyzoo,” A Clear Picture of an Unmanned Future

NOTE: Starting today, I will share my thoughts on things happening across the globe, especially those that spell UNIQUE, ODD, STRANGE, UNUSUAL, DIFFERENT, and BEYOND THE MILLENNIUM.

Alibaba has a new venture and just by looking at photos of its “Flyzoo” hotel, I’ve become speechless.

Basically, it’s a “future” hotel that features all things technological, especially the gigantic, robotic hand that mixes cocktails for guests. It is also home to Alibaba’s voice command technology that guests can very much order around.

Capsule-like robots glide around the laid-back hallways – so normal to people like me who live in a third-world environment.

I almost forgot to mention facial recognition. Everywhere you go, whether to your friend in the other room, at the elevator, or at the restaurant, you scan your face to ensure that your activities will be tracked. (I just hope there’s nothing like that inside the bathroom.)

Flyzoo is a picture of technology at its finest… all at the cost of 1,390 yuan per night. That’s around $204 and a whopping 10,817 Philippine pesos. Not bad for U.S. travelers and too bad for Filipinos who also want to have a taste of the “future.”
